One of the items on our to-do list this year is to create a more interactive community and a bright Firefly spotlight for our clients, especially the new businesses entering the marketplace. A lot of our clients come to us with an idea and a dream of starting their own business, but they have no idea where to start or what to do first.

We help them from the very beginning from setting them up with a trusted partner who specializes in business law so they can properly and legally set up their business, to creating a business name, finding a domain name, designing a logo, business card, a website, and finally getting their name out there.

We've decided to use our blog and the Firefly facebook fan page to gather input from all of our fans and readers on certain stages of this business production. So without further ado, please give a warm welcome to a new and upcoming business in the Central Florida, Orlando area: Animal Behavior Training Solutions.

From the name of the company, you can probably tell what they do pretty quickly! At this stage in the business development, we have created several different logo options for this client to choose from. Our logo design package includes 3 concepts of logos for our clients. From there, we like to ask them to tell us what they like and dislike about each one.

Below are the three concepts we have designed for the client. We have already presented these to the client, but we want to know what you think! From looking at these logos tell us... What does this company do? Who would benefit from using this company's services? What words would you use to describe this company? And finally, which logo would you choose... and which one do you think the client will choose?

Hello all from FireFly headquarters! We have met some great people in the past week. One thing that comes to mind when looking back at this week is the level of excitement that we see in our clients, friends and prospects. FireFly is here to help, one idea at a time. To all of you, thanks for the opportunity to help you build your business image. And of course, thanks for all the great compliments about what we do at FireFly. We continue our daily mission to do what we do best, and that is to become your own external marketing department. 

Over the years I have seen how companies big and small devote only a tiny portion of their efforts to develop and maintain their image among the public, their clients and their competitors. You’ve probably heard them too... “I run a bakery, and I’ll let the bread do the talking.”  Well, Mr. Know-It-All Baker may have the best bread in town, but if the public doesn’t know about it, Mr. Know-It-All Baker will end up closing the bakery’s doors and heading to see a bankruptcy lawyer. After all, some in the public may say, bread is bread!

At FireFly, we help business owners develop their business image through innovation and fresh ideas. Yes, Mr. Know-It-All Baker, put some fresh ideas on your fresh dough and your customers will feel “the bread experience.” The best thing is, Mr. Know-It-All Baker doesn’t really have to worry about every single detail of how to communicate his message. That’s where the FireFly team comes in. While you, the business owner, take care of the quality of your product, we, the FireFly team, take care of delivering the message regarding the product.  From creating or enhancing your image through your logo, to bolstering your presence in the community through traditional and electronic media, we can do it all and at an attractive price. 

In my next post, I will give you an example or two of how we have been able to help clients grow their businesses through marketing. And yes, our company lawyers (argh!) already told us to keep the names confidential so that the competition doesn’t find out about how well our clients are doing. See ya’!

So what are we doing now? Well, we're starting off the New Year right. We're putting the finishing touches on our contest for small businesses. We know that starting a business can be tough. Especially in these times, and a lot of small business owners will try to do as much as possible themselves in the very beginning.

Unfortunately this often means creating the logo and the business card. So many people undervalue their logo. But this is the very first step in successfully branding your company. It's what people will look at and get to know when they think of your company name. It's the colors, the feeling, and the quality that people will judge. If your logo is done quickly with images everyone recognizes from clipart... it's going to affect how people look at your company. They'll think, well if they can't be bothered to put the time and effort into their own company image, how can I trust them with my business?

It's the same for your business card. When you go to networking events or you hand out your card to potential clients, they are going to take your card back home and evaluate it by the look and feel of it. If it looks cheap, sloppy, or it just doesn't stand out... they may deposit your card directly in the trash.

However, when you have a professional, customized logo and business card... you'll soon see that you will stand out. Take out a stack of business cards and compare them all. Which ones draw your attention in a positive way? They are the ones with a nice, unique design, of course.

That's why at Firefly, we knew one of the first things we wanted to do was to offer this contest for small businesses or start ups. We will be offering a free logo design, business card design, and letterhead to a small business or startup.

While the road to get here has been long, we're finally seeing the fruits of our labor. Firefly has grown and continues to grow as we push ourselves to apply our dreams and ideas on a daily basis. It's amazing to see all the ideas we have swimming in your minds come to life.

How many times have we dreamed about getting to this point in our careers, where we can use the knowledge and experience we have worked so hard to get to help other businesses throughout the world? We're proud to say that everything is coming together nicely and that we are all ready to have a great and prosperous 2010.
